I love the start of a new school year.

There is something so exciting about a fresh start and I loved that as a student and it's so much fun as a parent. Every year, I have my kids take a photo on the first day and on the last day of school. I see their adorable little faces every day, so I don't see the change that occurs throughout the year, but man oh man, when those pictures are side by side, their growth is unreal!!

My approach to school photo day is anything but dull.

If you haven't heard, I love school photos. And I love doing them differently than your standard awkward photo where you kid doesn't look like themselves. I think you deserve to have images of your child each year that show their wonderful personality so you can remember them at each age and stage.

I'm not able to get to every school, so that's where Back to School Mini Sessions come in to play.

I'm not yet at every school in the Grapevine Colleyville area (If you want to help change that, please reach out so we can try to get me in your school this year). If I photographed your student this year, but wasn't at big brother or little sister's school, too, this is a perfect opportunity to have all of your kids photographed in this timeless style that will show their unique personality. If your school doesn't have this style of photography yet, this is a great opportunity to photograph your child at the beginning of the year so you can see their growth. And as a bonus, it's done the weekend before school starts, so you can cross off beginning of the year photo from your list to have one less thing to do the morning of the first day!

Back to School Personality Mini Sessions will be August 10 and 11, 2024 in Grapevine.

So how will Back to School Personality Mini Sessions Work?

1. Book your time slot.

Visit my booking site to reserve your time slot. Sessions are 5 minutes and we will have such a variety of images highlighting your child's unique personality. You will need to book a time slot for every child that you want photographed. It is $50 to reserve your time slot and that money will be credited to your purchase of edited, digital images, prints, and products.

2. Have fun.

All you have to do is show up and get ready to watch your child have fun. It can be scary to walk into a new situation, but because I have a bit of time with each kid, I can chat with them to find out what makes them tick. Watching them react to our conversations and my awesome (read the sarcasm) "dad" jokes, is so much fun for me.

3. Select your photos.

When you receive your online gallery, you will oooohhh and ahhh over how sweet your kid is and decided which images you want to purchase. You have a $50 credit from your booking fee to use. You can find my prices for this year here so you have an idea of what to expect for digital images, prints, and products. Don't forget that school photos in this style make excellent grandparent gifts so you can cross of a holiday shopping gift before September!

Frequently Asked Questions Answered

Will you photograph my kids together?

Absolutely! I love that I am able to offer sibling photos with my school photography. If you have 3 or fewer kids, there's no need to book an additional time slot. If you have 4 or more kids, I do ask that you book another time slot so I have plenty of time to photograph your whole crew together.

Can my child bring a prop?

Normally, I'm a no prop kinda photographer because I think your student is more than enough to make a photograph timeless and amazing. BUT, when my daughter insisted on having her "Elsa" portrait taken, I realized that I never want to forget her love of princesses and the way her little heart swells with pride to belt out the lyrics like her heroes.

Our session is only 5 minutes, but if your child has a favorite stuffy or cape that makes them come alive, bring it along and we'll do our best to show that side of their personality, too.

What should my child wear?

The best advice for school photo day wardrobe that I have is as follows:

  • Avoid neon colors and words/graphics
  • Make sure that the clothes fit and your child is comfortable
  • Coordinate siblings so they don't clash
  • At the end of the day, your child is more important than the clothes they are in, so we will make anything work!
