When you think of gathering all the brothers, sisters, cousins, parents, and kids for an extended family session do you think of stiff, boring photos, or a fun evening spent laughing with the people who know and love you best?
Even if your first thought of extended family photos is the former, my hope is that by the end of our time together, you will remember all of the reasons that you love this group of people who have made you who you are today. When you book your extended family session with me, all you will need to do is come ready to play with your people and I will handle the rest to create timeless images to help you remember what makes this group of people so unique in this moment.

When you book your extended family session, I ask that you give me the names of all of those who will be photographed. Prior to your session, I make sure that I have all the groupings of the individual family units that make up your group matched up so that I can photograph each family, the whole group and the generation levels. By knowing who all is being photographed prior to our session, you can rest that we will have everyone photographed in all the groups to help you remember your session. If there are any special pairs or groups you want photographed, just say the word! Is a child named after a grandparent? Let's make sure that we have them photographed together. Do certain cousins play on the same baseball team? Let's photograph them together. Your family tells a story exactly how you are and I want to tell that story through photographs.
I have prompts to help everyone loosen up and be themselves.
I have absolutely no problem being awkward or silly in order to make you not feel awkward or silly. In every session that I do, whether it is a family session, extended family session, a school portrait, or a sports portrait, I actually enjoy getting to know the people that I am photographing. We will be talking and joking the entire time so that you can relax and show your true self.
I will direct you every step of the way
Even though it seems counterintuitive, by posing you every step of the way, you will be more relaxed in your photos. You won't be worried about what to do with your hands, so you can just relax and have fun with your people. The result will be photos that show you and your family at ease with each other.
All you have to do to create timeless extended family images, is show up and enjoy your people.
